New Unopened If sold with packaging still sealed within.  No cosmetic damage of any kind unless noted.
New Opened If sold with packaging no longer in a sealed container.  No cosmetic damage of any kind unless noted.
Excellent Little if any signs of wear.   Condition so good if you found it in a store you would never know the difference.   Books have no signs of being opened.  About as good as you can get after it has been previously owned.
Very-Good Some signs of wear, perhaps bumped corers or small creases.  Signs of wear only upon very close inspection such as fingerprints and slight soil.  The beginnings of use are starting to be noticed.   If audio there will be no skips, but there might be slight scratches.
Good Obvious signs of wear on close inspection.  Bends, frays and folds are evident but not to such an extent to seriously devalue an item. Imperfections in workmanship are starting to show  What you would expect to find an item when good care has been given to keeping the item.
Fair There will be torn pages and wear that is normal for items that are not particularly taken care of with care.  There may be defects in original workmanship or the item may be pieced together from several sources.
Poor Possible compromising damage due to water, sun exposure or mold.  Bindings may have come apart.  Price is reduced from what would normally be asked because the condition of the item has been effected to such an extent. Good for a collection until a better one is found.
